My Go-to Colors

Outfit Details: Dress- One Clothing, Shoes- Madden Girl, Headband- Modcloth, Purse- Thrifted

I could not stay away from the snooze button on my alarm this week, which led to me racing against the clock to get ready for work. 10 minutes of sleeping in definitely puts a dent on my getting ready routine of showering, blow drying my hair, applying makeup, curling my hair, and choosing my outfit. Dry shampoo can only save me for a day! Anyway, I came to find that I wore lots of black and white this week. I've always been a fan of black and white. I'm pretty sure my love for these colors started when I watched 101 Dalmatians when I was 6. Who knew that Cruella De Vil could be anyone's fashion inspo?! Like Cruella, my go-to colors are black and white. Sure, I would never hurt a puppy to make myself a coat, but you catch my drift! Black and white are such classic and easy colors to style. Black and white prints are what I usually gravitate towards: polka dots, stripes, chevrons, gingham, you name it! I also love the fact that you can wear it with any other color. Black and white makes life easy, and that's why I love it so much.

I let my black and white streak continue for the weekend as well. This dress is a new addition to my black and white collection, and I'm sure it will save me one of these mornings when I decide to take another snoozer. Anyway, this weekend has been swell. We didn't have any particular plans this weekend so we just got in the car and improvised. We ended up at Target to stock up on necessities. Of course, the whole time I was there I tried to avoid their amazing clearance aisles full of cute things I don't need. I was a good girl. Then we went to Trader Joes where all the damage was done. Needless to say, I had a lovely macaron filled evening. Thank you, Trader Joes.

Beach Dreaming

Outfit details: Hat- Borrowed from Mom, Top- Miley Cyrus & Max Azria, Dress- Monteau, Shoes- Target

My weekends are days that I cherish. Who doesn't cherish sleeping in & fun adventures with lovely people? We spent most of our Saturday indoors, A/C at full blast, and watching crime shows, The Big Bang Theory, and prison shows in our PJ's. However, after a few hours of being lazy butts we decided that we needed a little bit of outdoor Summer vibes. By the looks of my outfit, I was ready to go to the beach but instead I went on a grocery run with Jon to get Pico de Gallo paletas (popsicles). Paletas are our addiction every summer along with watermelon, frozen yogurt, and iced coffee drinks.

This weekend I decided to borrow this fabulous hat from my momma. It's such a sweet Summer piece! So perfect for the beach! My mom is definitely one of my fashion inspirations. The pieces in her closet are so classy and timeless. I blame her for my love of cardigans and shoes. Speaking of shoes, I decided to bring out my floral wedges for the first time this year. My feet are usually in closed toed shoes from Monday to Friday, so it was nice to give my feet some fresh air and a tan!

Today I went on a little adventure with Jon and my mom. We road-tripped it to the Bay Area to see where Jon will be start working soon. He's definitely pumped and I'm so very excited for him too! We're so motivated for the future, and are so excited for what God has in store for us. What a perfect way to end the weekend!

I am off to get recharged for tomorrow! I hope you all have an amazing and productive week! ♥

Sweet Sunday.

Sunday was definitely fun day. We had my nephew Levi with us this Sunday, and we had so much fun. It's always a blast when that kiddo is around. We went to Funworks, which is like a mini golf/arcade/go kart deal. We attempted to play some putt putt golf, but it was unbearably hot outside. So we stayed in the arcade trying to get some tickets to win Levi a Cars toy he had his eye on. Lightning McQueen is his homeboy. I also found out that he loves Skee Ball just like his auntie. He was not having the kiddie games! Such a lovely day with the family. I am so blessed to have these people in my life.

So how are you all recovering from this weekend? Gosh, waking up this morning was such a challenge for me. I had gotten so used to sleeping in until 9 and staying in my PJ's all day. It's easy to get used to the good life. Lucky for me, there's such thing as dry shampoo! Those extra 20 minutes of sleep made all of the difference. I definitely needed that break. Now I'm back to reality and that's okay too. Money don't grow on trees, and I am so blessed to have a job during these hard times.

Well this week is going to be a busy one, which should also make it a fast one. I'm looking forward to Friday. I get outta work early on Friday! Woo hoo! These are the kinds of things I look forward to all week. Anyway, I hope you all have a great week!

A Little Rusty

Outfit Details: Top- Tucker For Target, Dress- Thrifted, Belt- Forever 21, Shoes- Minnetonka Moccasin Co.

Funny how easy it is to forget how to do things once you haven't done them for a while. This explains why it took me a too long to get this post together. I'm a little rusty. Not that I was ever an expert at codes and blogging at all! Since it's a four day weekend and Jon is at work, I thought "Why not do a little bit of updating?!" I got my Cannon outta the closet, turned it on, and then thought "Uhhhh.... I know how to do this!" I had forgotten how to take pictures. What is up with my brain?! But like riding a bike, I remembered and got to snappin'. Same with this whole coding deal. I guess I'm gonna have to lessen my after-work-telly-watching sessions to stay on top of these things.

So I decided to match with the state of my skills last night, and wore rust details to warm up my gray dress. I felt like being comfortable for date night so I paired it with my Minnetonka Booties. My Minnetonkas are my favorite. They are the comfiest shoes I own, they're simple, cute, and they match with everything! Not much has changed when it comes to my polka dot obsession. You can add any print to a simple dress to make it pop. Polka dots just always happen to be my first choice.

I haven't done much shopping lately, just a little bit of thrifting here and there. We're all guilty of having something in the closet that never gets worn. I'm trying to rid myself of this bad habit and get creative with what I already own. So far I've been doing pretty good.

Well I'm off to do some weekend thrifting! Wish me luck!

Lately.

As you guys have probably noticed, I've been out for quite some time. My last post was in April, and we are already in July! However, I've been meaning to dust off my camera and laptop to update you all. Luckily, I've had my iPhone at hand during these last few months! I've been absent on my blog, but you can't keep me away from Instagram. I update that thing quite often. It's just so convenient for a lazy bum like me!

Last night I stayed up late catching up with my favorite blogs, and gosh did it make me miss posting! Lately, my life has been wake up, work, eat, sleep, and repeat. What's so interesting about that, right?! I've failed to notice all of the fun and eventful things that have happened in between of what I call mundane. It hasn't been all work and no play!

Last month we made a trip to Disneyland and had a blast. We were there for the weekend with my family. I saw radiator Springs, and almost felt like I was in front of the Grand Canyon. I loved seeing my nephew's reactions to all of his favorite characters too. Disneyland is much funner when you're a kid or when you're with one. Despite the long lines, I got on all of the best rides. And Of course, I overdosed on sweets while I was there. The candy apple made me do it!

Summer has made it's grand appearance in California. I have done my fair share of complaining about the 108 degree weather, but I have been enjoying the longer days. I've been sporting the top knot much more than usual, and have been bringing out the Summer apparel little by little. Road trips, frozen yogurt, evening bike rides, and bright colors. I always find something to love about every season.

What's your favorite thing about Summer?

Well I'm off to do some cleaning and then continue my lovely four day weekend. Hope you all have a wonderful one!

Look What the Cat Dragged In

Outfit Details: Top- Forever 21, Skirt- Forever 21, Shoes- Franco Sarto

I know, I know! I have been M.I.A for around two weeks now, but I feel like It's definitely time for me to get back into the swing of things here at Little Red Bowtalk. Life has been crazy busy for me these days! I have much to update you guys with!

If you guys follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you may have heard that I got a new job two weeks ago. I absolutely love it! I'm doing accounting for a local company and it is so much funner than I had anticipated. Who woulda thunk it?! It really is such a blessing to have finally found a job in the field that I studied. It makes me feel like all those years of school are finally paying off. I had been on the search for so long, and God opened the perfect doors for me at the perfect time as well. It's so relieving and comforting to know that my future is in God's hands.

At work, Friday's are casual days so I decided to wear one of the comfiest skirts I own. I wanted to start the weekend off right! I'm also sporting some bags under my eyes due to waking up so early for work! My body is still getting used to this change. I used to be the type of person that would start on projects at about 10 p.m., but now I have no choice but to be asleep at that time! How is this night owl supposed to get anything done?!

I plan on posting more of the business casual outfits I wear during the week as well. I thought I would have had a few posted by now, but I've also been moving. We have finally had a chance to settle into our new place and relax from all these changes. It has been a crazy and awesome last two weeks. I'm so glad to be back! Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend!

Weekday Uniform: Lumberjack Chic

Outfit Details: Dress- Victoria Secret Pink // Tights- Target // Shoes- Minnetonka

I'm back this week with another casual weekday outfit. Do you guys like my post title? Ha! I felt like such a lumberjack yesterday! I love my plaid and fringe. I wasn't quite equipped to cut down any trees, but I was comfortable as can be.

I absolutely love dresses! I think they are so easy to style and oh so comfortable! They pretty much make an outfit, which really comes in handy when you're on the run. Just add some accessories in the mix and you are set to go! I didn't do too much accessorizing with this outfit. I kept it pretty simple with a pair of black tights and my Minnetonka booties. I am a big fan of tights so I wear them all year round. I know there are so many people who would love to trade me places so that they would kick their tights to the curb! I should probably give my legs some sun though or I'll be blinding people whenever I do go bare!

March Snapshots

♥ I found myself wearing lots of sparkles in March! I have a small collection of shiny things, and they seem to make their way into my daily outfits. Every girl loves her glitter.

♥ We went on a few small road trips this month, and early mornings on the road call for breakfast stops. Breakfast has got to be one of my favorite meals of the day, especially when it involves coffee and potatoes.

♥ Spring arrived last month and so did all the beautiful blooms! The weather has been absolutely perfect lately. During the day the sun is out to keep me warm, and at night it rains and puts me right to sleep. So perfect!

♥ As you all know, this month I did a little Little Red Bowtique update. I still have lots of pretty things available!

♥ Rigby and I have been spending more time together, and I'm starting to think he may love me as much as he loves Jon now. Yeah, we're pretty competitive when it comes to Rigby!

♥ I love candy! I am an especially big fan of anything sour! So good. Anyway, I feel like I've overdosed on candy. Maybe on my April recap you will see more pictures of vegetables and fruits.... Maybe.

♥ I'm sure you can tell by my outfits that I have settled right into Spring. The first day of spring I thought it would be perfect to wear florals so I wore my floral print oxfords. I don't own lots of floral print clothes, but these shoes will add that dash of floral that any Spring outfit will need.

♥ That last photo is of Jon and I on Easter. I'm just warning you that it's about to get really sappy. Oh how I love my partner in crime. I really am so blessed to have such an amazing husband who is so supportive and encouraging. We are looking forward to the month of April and just the future in general. I'm so excited for the great things that are to come for us. I'm also so thankful to God and the people around us who cheer us on! We love you all so much!

Weekend Wears

Outfit Details: Dress- Target // Belt- Another Line // Tights- Romwe // Boots- Franco Sarto // Bag- Forever 21

I'm back from my long, fun, and family-filled weekend! It's always great to be in company of the people you love the most. My weekend was full of laughs, hugs, and memories. I had so much fun seeing my nephews open up their gifts and just enjoy their special day! I love birthdays! It is a crazy world and making it through another year on this earth is pretty amazing. I also ate so much junk this weekend, and enjoyed every bit of it! Now I'm back to reality, and I must get back on the exercise and stop-eating-so-much-candy train.

This weekend, I wore one of my best Target finds ever! I had my eye on this dress for months, and recently I found it for only $7! This cheapskate was very happy! Target's clearance section deserves an award. I always find the best stuff for the best price!

My sister and brother in law introduced us to the game Rummy-O this weekend, and now we are hooked! I couldn't believe I had never played it before! It is so much fun! This game involves lots of thinking and strategy. Love those kind of games! We're so addicted now, that tonight we're off to play at their place. Let the fun continue!

Friday I'm In Love

Outfit Details- Top- Charlotte Russe // Pants- Lovesick // Shoes- Marc Fisher // Bag- Thrifted

I love Fridays! I don't mind any other day of the week, but there is just something special about Friday. Today was a busy one too! I woke up, and went on walk. This week, I have been waking up early and going on 3 mile walks in the morning. It's a really great way to start the day! Also, waking up early makes the day feel so much longer and so much more productive. By the end of the day, I am exhausted and ready to catch all the Zzz's that exist! This is a bit different than my insomniac ways of last week. I hope to make this a habit!

Today I went out did some preparing for this weekend's events. I have two nephew's birthdays to celebrate this weekend, and I was on the search for their gifts. We have lots of family time planned this weekend, and I am really looking forward to it! Kids are the funnest to celebrate! Their reactions to gifts are the cutest thing too! Can't wait to see these little guy's faces when they see what they got for their birthdays!

It seems like my Friday ritual these days has been wearing black and white! Well today I decided to add a little pop of color in the mix. I love colored denim! Since it's spring, I will be on the search for pastel colored pants. I only have mint, but I would love a lavender pair! I also added a pair of booties that I hardly wear to my outfit today. I usually wear these shoes with dressy outfits, but I thought out of the box today and gave them a try with a casual outfit. In the words of Tim Gunn, Make it work!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and happy Easter to you all! ♥

Weekday Uniform

Outfit Details: Top- Forever 21 // Jeans- Lovesick // Necklace- c/o Scarlett Garnet // Boots- Franco Sarto // Bag- Thrifted

Monday through Friday you can find me in a slouchy top and a pair of jeans. This is what I call my weekday day uniform. Today I fancied it up with this pair of heeled booties and a my favorite Scarlett Garnet necklace. There was a time when the only thing I wore was skirts and dresses, and I still wear them a lot but I've given pants a chance. It really helps when you find a pair of pants that you love. I'm a little bit on the short side (I'm 5'2") so finding a pair of jeans that isn't too long can be a difficult task. However, these are the perfect length for me! So I went and bought them in different colors! I am guilty of doing this with quite a few things. If I really love something, I go and buy it in every color. Can't go wrong with that!

While I was outside, I couldn't help but snap some photos of the pretty flowers that Spring brought me. All the trees are covered in flowers, the birds are chirping away, and I can leave the windows open all day. I'm enjoying everything about Spring just like I knew I would.

Lazy Sunday

Outfit Details: Cardigan- J.Crew // Shirt- Forever 21 // Skirt- H&M // Tights- Target // Shoes- Franco Sarto

My weekend was wonderfully lazy! I spent most of it laying on my couch watching cheesy shows on Animal planet and snacking on sour candy. It was the best. However, today I did have take a break from being lazy to go outside. It was beautiful out so Jon and I decided to go on a long walk around the neighborhood with Rigby. I get allergies really bad during this season, but I enjoy looking at all the beautiful trees and flowers during this season. So I took a Zyrtec, and off we went! Everyone was outside today too, which was so nice. Today was the epitome of Spring!

When we came home, we treated Rigby to a bath. He didn't think it was much of a treat though! Rigby is scared of bathrooms because he hates baths! It's so funny because he follows Jon all over the house, but he will NOT walk into a bathroom. As soon as Jon walked into the bathroom, Rigby wanted out of the house. He went up to the sliding door, and started scratching it. It was hilarious and adorable!

Here are the results of his bath! Bet you can even smell them! Fresh, clean, and fluffy as can be. He spent the rest of the afternoon rolling all over the floor trying to come back to his normal dirty self. Crazy dog.

Black + White

Outfit Details: Top- Popbasic // Bow tie- Urban Outfitters // Skirt- Forever 21 // Tights- Target // Boots- Franco Sarto

Happy Friday, lovely people! Last night before I went to bed I could have sworn that it was Wednesday. Well turns out I was wrong! This week went by really fast... actually, this month did! Time flies when you're having fun, right?! Friday's are always good days though! I don't have any set plans for the weekend, but I do want to do something fun. Lets see what pops up! Do you guys have any special plans for the weekend?

Today was full of family fun and errands. I think I got a good start to my weekend already! This morning I went out for a walk, and then got ready to go to breakfast with my parents. My nephew joined us too, which always means a blast! Then off to run our errands we went. As soon as we were done, we celebrated with some frozen yogurt. I seriously love that stuff!

A flowy skirt probably wasn't the best decision for today, because it is so windy outside! This is why I decided to take some pictures indoors today. I also decided that black and white where the colors of the day! As you all know, I love print mixing! Whenever I mix prints, I have to throw a few polka dots in there too! Oh, and I love this bird skirt too! I don't think I've worn this skirt since the Summer! My Summer staples are coming out to play little by little.

I bought a Cannon AE-1 not too long ago, and I haven't gotten the chance to play with it yet. I'm thinking that I might get some parts that it's missing, and some film for it soon. I love playing with old cameras! I'm such a newbie at all this photography business. It really takes skill and creativity to be an amazing photographer! I hope one day I'll acquire half the skills of some amazing photographers I've seen! Last time I asked tips, I got some really good ones! Have any of you used a camera like this one? Anything I should know?

Well I'm off to continue my weekend fun! I hope you all have a lovely one!
